This year, Pierce City Elementary will be participating in a nationwide event called The Great Kindness Challenge. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on campuses nationwide. This year's event runs from January 28-February 1. Each child will be given a kindness checklist and challenged to complete as many kind acts as possible over the course of the week. In addition to the kindness checklist, we will have a special theme each day to add a little fun. I would invite you to add extra meaning to this year's challenge by having your own kindness challenge at home in conjunction with the event. Here is a list of the themes for the week.
- Tuesday-Kicking off Kindness-wear mismatched socks and shoes
- Wednesday-Make Kindness a Pattern-wear clothes with patterns (polka dots, stripes, plaid, camo, etc.)
- Thursday-Team Up for Kindness-wear your favorite team or team colors (No Chief's clothing please 😊)
- Friday-Kindness Counts-wear clothing with numbers
I hope everyone has a great time with this event! Together, let's show the world that...KINDNESS MATTERS!
Our 2019 Kids Heart Challenge is fast approaching! We will have our kick-off assembly next Friday, January 25, and the actual event runs through February 15. Your child will be bringing home information explaining this year's event and incentives. I am encouraging everyone to go online to register. It is absolutely free, and your child will earn a bracelet for doing so. Simply go to www2.heart.org/goto/piercecity and click on sign up. We had a record year last year, so I'm so excited to see what this year's event brings! Thanks for being a Heart Hero!
